Matt Shares His Personal Story of Bankruptcy

by Dan Nunley

I recently came across a web site called My Bankruptcy Story. It’s the personal journal of a man named Matt who writes about his debt problems, his experiences with credit counseling, his decision to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy and the bankruptcy process from his point of view. Matt says that he decided to write his personal account because when he searched the Internet for information, he found lots of information from debt settlement companies, bankruptcy attorneys, and financial experts but he found very little information being shared by regular folks who had gone or were going through the bankruptcy process themselves. I thought Matt’s experiences might be of interest to those of you who also may be considering filing bankruptcy.

If you are struggling with debt problems and would like to know more about how bankruptcy may be able to help you, contact me today by phone or email to schedule a FREE initial consultation. I would count it a privilege to be able to visit with you in a relaxed and confidential environment where I’ll answer all of your questions in plain English and give you the straight scoop on the pros and cons of bankruptcy as related to your specific situation.

Actually Dan, that is my web site, and my name is Russ, but I like to keep just a bit anonymous. Bankruptcy does still have a negative connotation, and I am more than a bit embarrassed that I had to file. My web site is intended to counter all the negativity towards considering personal bankruptcy. I my case, it really was the only option, as repayment plans and debt negotiation were just not possible in my case.

While my Chap 7 was recently discharged, my bankruptcy story continues. I am going to start monitoring my credit rating, to see how it changes. Filing bankruptcy was a business decision that I think was the right choice for me and my family.

Russ, As I work each and every day with good people who are struggling with debt, I understand your feeling of embarrassment. I find that the vast majority of my clients do not want to file bankruptcy and have tried every other viable option to resolve their debt problems before they contact me. In fact, most of my clients are so adverse to filing bankruptcy that they delay contacting me until their situation becomes desperate.

Thanks for sharing your story. I think it will be of interest and help to many who are in financial difficulty these days. I wish you well.
