Cesar,

It's good to hear from another solo attorney. I hope that you are enjoying practice and I wish you nothing but the best.

I always tell my clients that with the number of bankruptcy cases being filed, it is highly likely that many of the people they associate with at work, school, church, etc. have either already filed bankruptcy too or soon will be. Quite a few attorneys have filed bankruptcy also. And as I make clear on the About Dan page of my web site, I myself have filed bankruptcy. I think that my openess about that fact has only helped me in being able to relate to my clients and potential clients and they with me. I can't think of a single negative consequence caused by my honest disclosure.

Regarding social media, I used to be very active on Twitter and Facebook, both from a business and personal standpoint. However, I abandoned both after realizing how much time I was devoting to them. Time that I would never get back and for which I didn't believe social media was giving me a worthwhile return. We all have only 24 hours a day and after reviewing all of the activities that I need to do and want to do, social media didn't make the cut.

Great blog post! I am a solo attorney in Minnesota and Chapter 7 is one of my areas of practice.
I am working on getting my own blog up and running, and considering disclosing to potential clients and readers that I, too, have filed bankruptcy and there is no shame in this.
I wonder, however, if this might damage my credibility, turn off potential clients, or have any other unintended consequences.
If you are able to reply, I would greatly appreciate your feedback.
Regards,
Cesar

PS: Would be great to follow you on Twitter if you have an account there?
