Should I file bankruptcy in Oklahoma?

by Dan Nunley

The decision to file bankruptcy is difficult at best.

Bankruptcy may not be the right solution for you, but you at least owe it to yourself and your family to find out about all of your options so that you can make an informed decision.

Most people are hesitant to even think of filing bankruptcy. So they struggle month in and month out to pay their bills. And all the while their creditors are turning up the heat. Before too long, with all of the late fees, penalties and interest, they realize that they are barely keeping their head above water. And without a miracle or a winning lottery ticket, they know in their hearts that there is simply no way they are ever going to be able to get caught up.

If this describes your situation, ask yourself these questions:

  • Have I bounced a check recently?
  • Am I frequently late paying my bills?
  • Am I charging basic living expenses on my credit cards?
  • Am I paying only the minimum on my credit cards each month?
  • Am I sacrificing basic necessities just to make ends meet?
  • Am I paying more money than I make just for monthly living expenses?
  • Have I experienced a dramatic drop in income that I don’t anticipate replacing anytime soon?
  • Have I recently become partially or totally disabled?
  • Am I going through a divorce resulting in less income and more expenses?
  • Are my creditors threatening to sue me?
  • Is my paycheck being garnished or about to be garnished?
  • Am I behind on my car payments?
  • Is the car loan company threatening to repossess my car?
  • Am I behind on my house payments?
  • Is the mortgage company threatening to foreclose on my home?
  • Am I losing sleep at night wondering how I’m going to make it?
  • Do I have any real prospect of getting out of debt in the near future?

If you answered yes to some of these questions, bankruptcy could be the right solution for you. Don’t continue to put things off until your situation gets even worse. Take charge right now.
