Officials at Springdale, Arkansas based Tyson Foods Inc. announced Friday that they will close the 14-year-old Ponca City, Oklahoma plant by the end of August 2009 and will lay off approximately 580 workers starting this May.
Tyson’s announcement comes less than two months after Conoco Phillips said it would move 750 jobs from Ponca City during the next two years.
