Economic Stress Index Maps Measure Financial Strain County By County

AP ESI Map

Here are some neat interactive maps of the United States that measure financial strain county by county.  The maps are a visual depiction of the Associated Press’s recently launched “Economic Stress Index” which weighs three economic variables – unemployment, foreclosures and bankruptcy – to produce a score on a scale of 0-100. The worse things are, the higher the score. The scores are then plotted on the interactive AP Economic Stress Index maps. Simply hover your mouse over the county in which you’re interested for specific information related to that county’s economic stress index. The maps will be updated monthly by the AP.

And to get beyond mere numbers, also included are video essays of real Americans from all walks of life who are dealing with the issues of unemployment, foreclosure and bankruptcy.
