The first of 1,200 or more ConocoPhillips workers projected to be laid off this month company-wide were handed their walking papers Wednesday in Bartlesville and Ponca City.
Overall, about 4 percent of the company’s approximately 4,600 Oklahoma workers will be laid off. The reduction includes about 5 percent of 3,200 jobs in Bartlesville, or an estimated 150 people; and less than 4 percent of the approximately 1,500 refinery and nonrefinery positions in Ponca City.
ConocoPhillips announced that employees laid off this month will receive some severance pay as well as outplacement services such as career coaching, resume materials and job search technology for up to six months.
